In 2017, Pearson VUE has entered into an agreement to provide computer-based-testing delivery services for the Project Management Institute, Inc. (PMI). It starts with the CAPM.

On December 2018, PMI® announced that beginning July 1st 2019 it is moving to Pearson VUE for all its certification examinations worldwide . Prometrics was the historic testing center. The new testing center is now concerning all certifications [Project Management Professional (PMP)® exam online from their home or office. The PMP exam now joins two other PMI certification exams professionals can take online: the PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) and Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification exams.]

If your exam is on or before 2019-06-30

You can keep that appointment with Prometrics and test as planned.

If your exam is on or after 2019-07-01

PMI published “we will work with Prometric and Pearson VUE to have that appointment moved to a Pearson VUE location”. PMI will certainly reach out to you and ask you to reschedule your exam at a Pearson VUE testing location near you. The exam format will change too. It will consist of 180 questions, with a time limit of 230 minutes. (Reminder: The current exam format is 200 questions in 240 minutes).
